SXSW in Austin usually brings news of great new apps and services, and music video service Vevo announced plans to offer a mobile SDK (software development kit) which allows third party app developers to offer their content, apps and videos.
Initially the Vevo database will be available on partnership basis only, but in the long run Vevo plans to open it for all developers. One of the most anticipated Vevo’s mobile apps will be a social video sharing app similar to the popular Instagram.
Vevo’s Senior Vice President of Product and Technology announced that the first platform to receive the new updates will be iOS. He added that Vevo plans to introduce a new universal app which will offer a simplified user interface based around swipes and gestures. This will include features like watching a video on a corner of the screen while navigating the rest of the app features.
Once the app is checked and proven to be bug free, the partnerships will be made open for all developers and the app will be introduced to Android as well. Vevo has built the app with its own SDK and is in the testing phase right now. Start thinking about how to use vevo music videos for a video sharing app or video hosting site!
