Why Did Jack White & Beck Play Live This Weekend?

Jack White showed up for a Beck gig this weekend. White was playing the Newport Folk Festival on Saturday before making a run for the border to play a Beck show in Providence, Rhode Island. The two performed a number of songs together, including Loser and Pay No Mind; Then Sean Lennon emerged and all of them proceeded with Where It's At and One Foot In The Grave. Billboard broke the story, saying the Jack White was introduced onstage as "simply as the 'best bartender in the world.'"

Beck recorded music at Jack White's Third Man Studios for a single before, so the two have a history of working together. But is that enough for them to join together now? Usually these gigs are proceeded by some interaction between the two, so without trying to over speculate, why are they in communication? Is it possible that Jack White will appear on some new Beck music or could Beck be doing some work at Third Man Studios?
