A review of the Weaves song “Candy.”

Toronto based quartet, Weaves has offered us something sweet from their debut EP: "Candy" is the latest teaser track and it's definitely unforgettable. Taking Toronto's Noise Rock scene to new and dazzling heights, this track is definitely a bold statement and a very promising glimpse at things to come from Weaves.

Correctly described as Noise Rock, the intro comes across like a wailing alarm clock and breaks into a series of disjointed guitar twangs laid precariously over a very solid bass and drum groove. The emotion is frantic and erratic, only calming down enough to make room for frontwoman Jasmyn Burke's trance-like vocals. The aggressive sound crouches in waiting during the chorus, and then pounces back into attack stance, bringing it all back around. This is a song you cannot ignore, whether you find it invigorating or intimidating.

Candy is the second track from Weaves' debut album which drops June 17th.
