A review of the White Lung album Paradise.

Canadian Punk Rock band White Lung, hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, have released their fourth studio album to worldwide acclaim. Paradise is an extremely bold album with a blazing attitude and a solid concrete foundation of Punk Rock. This album marks White Lung's foray into the Indie Rock scene, and skillfully meshed with their Punk roots, the end result is something to behold.

I reviewed album single "Hungry" in March and it has honestly been in my regular rotation ever since. I was hoping the album would reflect how wonderfully polished and unique the single was, hoping that this new direction for the band was a real change and not just a one-track thing. Happily, Paradise never wavers too far from the new sound, and it has all the moxie of "Hungry" spread evenly over ten tracks.

White Lungs fans, it seemed, were divided equally online when "Hungry" dropped; some were confused and upset at the change in direction and others were delighted. Now that Paradise is available it seems the overwhelming opinion is positive among fans and critics alike.

The album is full of provocative and inspiring lyrics, and the vocals are powerful and crystal clear enough to make them really hit home. I would almost describe the sound as Punk-mild, or all-inclusive Punk, but it's the intensity and depth of the album remains  and sets this album apart from most. I wouldn't hesitate to call this one of the greatest albums of the year.
