A review of the The Kills album Ash & Ice.

American singer Alison Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie Hince are The Kills and their fifth studio album, Ash & Ice, is set to drop June 3rd, just in time to set the perfect rock and roll tone to the summer.

This album is a perfectly blended mixture of dirty rock and roll songs and softer, more meaningful tracks. Each song takes full advantage of The Kills' bold sound and Alison Mosshart's soulful and sometimes aggressive vocals.

Ash & Ice isn't exactly innovative for The Kills but innovative isn't what you need to strive for as a band when you're at the pinnacle of your abilities. This album is a very thoroughly defining collection for the band, showing off perfect chemistry and skill as musicians. It's the kind of album you'd love to hear live  - which I think speaks volumes.

The Kills have become a multifaceted rock band, and the evidence of that is easy to hear in Ash & Ice. If you're looking for a cool rock and roll album to listen to, you'll find it, but The Kills have scattered unexpected sound and surprises where you'd least expect them in this album. If you're curious check out the two released singles "Doing it to Death" and "Heart of a Dog" available now.
