Crystal Castles went through some major troubled and turbulent times following Alice Glass' outing and subsequent departure from the project. When Glass and former band member Ethan Kath fell apart due to personal and creative disputes, many people foreshadowed the end of the Crystal Castles brand.

In spite of the rumors, Kath is now back with new music under the same moniker. The project also features a new member, Edith Frances, who took up on vocal duties. “Concrete,”  which hints at an upcoming full-length album, showcases a punchy, frantic and fast-paced electro sound, where deep low-end kicks and grainy synth melodies are the key, combined with Edith's distinctive vocal approach.

“Concrete”  truly matches the rave-like vibes and the snippets of EDM culture that appear within the track's accompanying video (below). The hectic rhythms and restless melodies create a beautiful contrast with Frances' haunting singing, almost as if channeling a bridge between the band's recent period of anxiety and distress and the light at the end of the tunnel, in the form of a new beginning with a new singer - yet never losing sight on Crystal Castles' roots and vision.
