Join the Collective. Spacelab is looking for contributors and staff
writers to be part of the Spacelab Research
Staff. If you're a writer, love music, or just
want to sound off in the music community, this
is your chance.
If you like writing about music and are going to festival this year, for god's sake, get in touch with us. We can give you space for your review, photos and video of your experience. The same goes for live shows ... if you're going to see live music regulary and want to review shows, write up your experience.
Do you obssess over over music web sites and social media, pulsing instantly for the latest thing that's happened? Ride that trend with Spacelab, and write short blurbs on the day's events. Fast paced.
Write about the days freshest videos, MP3s and audio streams. Short posts about the artists and what you think of the music.
We're not talking about obsessing over upgrades from version 3.12 to 3.13 here, but we are talking about the way we consume music online today. Different types of music services like Spotify and Soundcloud, devices like the iPad and the apps that go with it. Both Apple and Android devotees are welcome.
The long form written piece. In-depth examination of music genres, styles, happenings and musings.
Although it's preferred that you contribute
in an ongoing basis, feel free to submit one-off
pieces. It's preferred that contributors and
writers contribute in an ongoing basis, as in
once a week or once a month. It's a great opportunity to get experience
for your writing portfolio or resume, and you can get
access to free music, free shows, and get published
in an online media magazine.
Freelance writers may also feel free to submit
work at anytime. Spacelab is a great vehicle
for creative projects on music, we're open to
ideas and can work with you on getting your
piece out on the web.
Here's what we need from you: send an email
to staff [at] thespacelab.tv with background
about you, any examples of writing you've done for other publications, i.e.
a review of an album, show, or a music news
piece you've written. If you haven't been published before, send a review of a current album (i.e. upcoming release or released in the last 4-6 weeks). Don't let the fact that you haven't been published keep you from submitting. You should have at least
a reasonable knowledge of indie, alternative,
electronic or experimental music, and be interested in writing.
