  South By Southwest Interactive Festival
announces Web Awards Show winners

  South By Southwest festival

March 11th - 15th (Interactive)
Various locations in Austin, Texas

The South by Southwest Interactive Festival has announced this year's award winners for the Web Awards. The awards are restricted to sites that launched in the year 2004, and featured categories like best blog, music, flash, and experimental sites.

The Interactive Festival is winding down after a big weekend of speakers, panels, and the awards show. Among the featured guests were Al Franken and Ana Marie Cox (wonkette.com) who said, "Why not bloggers? They're certainly more entertaining than Maureen Dowd. The definition of journalist is independent of the medium," when talking about blogging during one of the keynote speeches.

Topics covered during the panels and speeches included whether or not bloggers were journalists, and the Apple soap opera in which Apple is seeking to turn over information on sources for leaked secret company information.
