Stereolab: Kybernetica Babicka

Stereolab - Kyberneticka Babicka

Stereolab is back. And I don't just mean with a new release. I mean musically. They have released a series of 3 singles, the first of which is a two song set called Kyberneticka Babicka. The songs is featured in two parts, aptly titled part one and part two.

They're very Moogy and repetitive. The loops go over and over again in cycles, like some sort of loop-based ambient wallpaper. It's not really active listening music, it's more like audio wallpaper to have going in the background while you're doing something else besides just listening to music.

It's comprehensive Stereolab. Some of the early experimentalsim is tied up with the Moog keyboard workouts of the middle years, and delivered with a nod to the tightly-woven conservative jazz of recent memory. But it all flows well.

RATING: ***** 4 out of 5 stars
