Stereolab is back. And I don't just mean
with a new release. I mean musically. They have released
a series of 3 singles, the first of which is a two
song set called Kyberneticka Babicka. The songs
is featured in two parts, aptly titled part one and
They're very Moogy and repetitive. The loops
go over and over again in cycles, like some sort of
loop-based ambient wallpaper. It's not really active
listening music, it's more like audio wallpaper to
have going in the background while you're doing something
else besides just listening to music.
It's comprehensive Stereolab. Some of the
early experimentalsim is tied up with the Moog
keyboard workouts of the middle years, and delivered
with a nod to the tightly-woven conservative jazz
of recent memory. But it all flows well.
