Black Mountain Member to Release New Material
as Pink Mountaintops

In the next installment of confusing band name crossover, the Pink Mountaintops are ramping up for releasing new material on Jagjaguwar Records. In what's almost as confusing as all those bands with the the word "wolf" in their name, Pink Mountaintops is primarily Stephen McBean, but he rotates in a lot of collaborators. Stephen McBean is also a member of Black Mountain, who is also on Jajaguwar.

Confused? Don't be. Here's what you need to know: Pink Mountaintops just released a two-song EP known as The Ones I Love / Erected 7". It's been released to generate excitement around the upcoming full length release of Axis of Evol, due out in March of 2006.

The album PR is flaunting sonic associations to Psycho Candy-era Jesus and Mary Chain or Spaceman 3. A preview of the new material sounds like unashamed drum machine beats laid under static-laden distorted guitars. All of this with a nod toward pop, but more in a "hey, whats up" nod that you give someone in passing than a full on embracing of pop music. Check it out for yourself with the free MP3 of New Drug Queens below.
