In the first major release of information about the
South By Southwest Music Festival, organizers
have announced the first set of names for the 2006
music festival.
Neil Young has been named as the keynote speaker.
He will participate in a conversation with Jonathan
Demme, who created the film Neil Young / Heart
Of Gold, a film set to debut at the SXSW Film
Festival. The film chronicles a series of Young performances
in Nashville, where he performed material from his
album Prarie Wind.
SXSW has also announced an initial set of
performers. Names include Belle and Sebastian,
The Earlies, Echo and the Bunnymen,
and The Juan Maclean.
The list is subject to change and more names will
be added as confirmed.
