The ever expanding live phenomenon known
as All Tomorrow's Parties has made
some new announcements for this year's
shows, collectively called the United
Sounds of ATP. It's a name for 6 ATP
shows that will go down in May of 2006,
in the original ATP home of Camber Sands,
England. It will take place over two separate
weekends, with 3 shows happening each
weekend.
Broken Social Scene, Boredoms, Lightning
Bolt and The Brian Jonestown Massacre
have been added to the 2nd weekend show,
and Magik Markers, The Flesh Eaters, The
Watts Prophets have been added to the
first weekend show.
What makes ATP unique is that
rather than hiring a music industry person
to book the bands, ATP organizers
find a musician, artist, or writer to
'curate' the festival - that is, they
treat it more like an experience than
a business venture.
Curators then create the entire festival
programming bands, DJ sets and
a television channel. Check out the information
below to see which band or artist is curating
which show and when they happen.
