Sigur Ros

Sigur Ros Ready Tour, Start Recording New Album
Sigur Ros is warming up to 2006 with many big plans. Anyone with any notion that the band would rest on their laurels for the next year is dead wrong, as the band seems to be hyper-exploding with activity, again. Where to begin...

Sigur Ros have announced that they will enter the studio this week to start recrding their fifth album, the follow-up to last year's Taak... The band will have only two weeks to get going, as the're due to start touring the U.S. in the second week of February. They also have some dates scheduled for the U.K. at the end of March, plus Japan, Australia, and New Zealand in April.

Also, Sigur Ros have released a new video for Hoppípolla, which involves a lot of surreal and abstract cinematography.

The band has also finally be released the long promised reissues of the Svefn-g-enlar and Ny Batteri Singles on FatCat Records. The long sought after music was part of various other releases but has now been made available in convenient and consumable singles. There will also be a Sæglópur EP and video w/ 4 new songs on it, which are being described as "being somewhere in between ba ba ti ki di do, untitled #9 and the end of glósóli (only coruscating)" by the band's unofficial but most authoritative web site, Eighteen Seconds Before Sunrise.
