Sex Pistols to the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
Not Bloody Likely

U.K. punks the Sex Pistols have
returned a shot to the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame over their upcoming induction.
In a posting to their web site, they've
announced in grandiose U.K. punk fashion
that they will not be coming to the ceremony.
They posted a hand-written scrawl that
reads: "We're not coming. We're not
your monkey and so what? Fame at $25,000
if we paid for a table or $15,000 to squeak
up in the gallery..."
And it goes on. So they've declared in
a very indirect and abstract fashion that
they're punk, their upstarts, etc etc
etc. But where is the punk of yore? A
web scrawl seems a very easy way to send
a harsh statement of adhereing to a conservative
punk aesthetic, but why not show up and
cause a riot instead?
Black Sabbath, Blondie,
and Miles Davis are included
in the list of inductees for the ceremony
on March 13th.
I guess we know who won't be present to
accept
their award...
