The Telescopes: one part continuous
drone, one part space-country folk ambient
stargazing. I feel like I've wandered
into a strange commune of hippies that
have been off in the pastoral countryside
for decades, playing their mystical music
at the edge of the woods. If you go out
on the summer solstice, you can find them
at sunset, at the edge of the woods, playing
this ambient and organic music.
These guys definitely get high approval
for cultivating their own sound (I'm trying
to stick to the commune metaphor without
being cheesy). In the world of ambient
noise/drone music it's easy to just slide
off into sounds without actually providing
a framework. The best ambient drone always
has some form of loose structure to it.
The excitement on Auditory Illusions
comes in how The Telescopes walk
back forth in that structure. Anyone can
be an abstract artist, but to do abstract
art with context is really hard. Try it
some time and you'll see.
The strings are a nice touch. They provide
a rich tone and backbone to the flute,
guitar, singing and harmonies. If this
music can't chill you out you might need
help. Oh yeah, there's also a video too!
It's a limited run of 500 - get em' hot
off the press.
