Gorillaz to
Perform Full-on Live Shows in New York
After last year's residency at the Manchester
Opera House went over so well, Gorillaz
have decided to bring the same Demon Days
live show to New York for a five night
stand on April 2-6. They'll be bringing
some friends with them... and they're
real people, not just the animated ones.
The show will go down in New York's Apollo
Theater with a range of guests playing
live onstage with the band, like De La
Soul, Ike Turner, Shaun Ryder, Neneh Cherry,
Bootie Brown, Roots Manuva, and Martina
Topley-Bird. There's also a promise of
more confirmations of performers to be
announced before the show.
Promoters are quick to announce that
this isn't to be confused with the Gorillaz
holographic show in the works for 2007.
The show at the Apollo will be a 'unique
cross between live performance and a theme
park experience,' with a live band, animations
on a screen, at the same time. Call it
a simultaneous virtual experience in live
context.
