Tapes 'N Tapes Get All International With Tour, Sign to XL Recordings

By: Spacelab Research Staff
Maybe they'll be the next Arctic Monkeys - another band brought to the surface by the social democracy of the blog.

Minneapolis' Tapes 'N Tapes have been getting all international on us lately, with a set of tour dates that includes a trip to the U.K. as well as around the U.S. But they'll be getting seriously international with a new agreement with XL Recordings. According the Pioneer Press, Tapes 'N Tapes have signed to XL for a rerelease of their last album The Loon, on a much bigger level and across the world.

"We're all kind of freaking out," Josh Grier told the Pioneer Press. "We've all been really excited and (now) we can finally talk about it."

They claim it all started when blogs started talking about the band. Awareness of their band started to spread, and before they knew it, lots of people were talking about the band. From there, they received writeups in Rolling Stone, New York Times, the Washington Post, Alternative Press and Billboard. They also got calls from major labels like Capitol Records.

The band has had a busy year playing shows around the country, including a GorillaVSBear showcase and the South By Southwest music festival. They have no intention of slowing down, starting a new tour today and even stopping over in the United Kingdom to play some dates and shoot a video. They'll be playing with bands like Cold War Kids, The Wrens, and Brian Jonestown Massacre.
