You want The Knife. Electronic experimentalists The Knife have signed a new deal with Mute Records for their album to be released in the US. The band hails from Sweden and plays music akin to the early days of industrial and kraut, with an electronic sound revamped for the times. It's cold, its dark, but there's a warmth and vibrance to the sound which gives it a lot of life.
The album is called Silent Shout, and became a number one hit in Sweden on Brille Records, the band's UK home. V2 Records provided the distribution for the rest of Europe. Brille describes the band as a combination of technology, emotion, circuitry and soul - think of the band as the kids of band members from Throbbing Gristle and Devo. The full album will see the light of day on July 25th, and will feature remixes by Shinedoe and Troy Pierce. Can't wait that long? Must you have your knife? A 12" single will be released on June 27th.
