DJ Shadow Sizes Up His Future

By: Spacelab Research Staff
The all-wise, all-knowing DJ Shadow has decided that now is the time for him to expand his musical stylings. His new and upcoming album, which is also without a title at this point, is slated for release this summer on Universal Records. Shadow used to be on MCA, which has been swallowed by Universal Records in the music industry's quest to consume each other until there is one major label that owns them all.

But this is about DJ Shadow, right? Right. He's said this album will be different from his previous outing, The Private Press. His DJness thinks that life is too short to do things the way that others think they should be done, so he's set out fullfill his own musical destiny and see where that takes him. A post on his web site from earlier this year says "You can’t please everybody all the time, but you can please yourself. So go ahead and hate me now, you’ll love me for it later."

The album will have more of a hip-hop feel and will feature appearances by Keak Da Sneak, Turf Talk, Q-Tip and David Banner.
