Muse Announce Details for the Release of Black Holes and Revelations, Plus Download Single

By: Spacelab Research Staff

Muse have been busy busy busy completing their upcoming album, Black Holes and Revelations. The recording process has been a long and winding road for the band, starting in southern France at Studio Mirval. Muse wasn't really musing well at that studio, so they decided to change their surroundings. "In the end, our conversations at the table were all about the end of the world and post-apocalyptic survival, it wasn’t very healthy."

The album is due out on July 3rd in the UK and will soon follow with a release in the US. To get things going, they'll release Supermassive Black Hole as a download single on June 12th, complete with artwork and a b-side. I wonder if that means we'll have to flip the MP3 over to hear the
other song?

The end of last year saw the band jetting back and forth from the UK to New York to complete work on the tracks with producer Rich Costey. This year they've been holed up in their London studio doing the final mixing on the album.

So what's the album all about? According to the band it's "awol soldiers, Zeta Reticulans, the sound of Joe Meek's tape machine being thrown down the stairs, the private thoughts of General Zhu Chenghu, feeling strangely comfortable collecting fire wood whilst wielding an axe and of course, and how to store pasta for 12 years using nitrogen flushing."

They'll be headlining this year's Reading and Leeds festivals for the Carling Weekend, plus making a stop at Eurrockeenes and a number of festivals on Europe's summer festival circuit. They'll also play Summer Sonic in Japan.
