The Go! Team Want Kevin Shields to Produce Their Next Album
By: Spacelab Research Staff
The Go! Team's leader Tim Parton has revealed that he's trying to get My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields to produce the group's next album. The band is looking for some influence to help 'dirty' up the sound on their new album, the follow up to Thunder, Lightning, Strike.
The band has been writing pop songs, and is now going full circle to go full on with the Go! Team sound which has always included a sonification value of a more dirty, messy mark up layered on top of a wide variety of genres. The band will start recording the songs later this summer, with a release sometime in 2007.
Although nothing is agreed upon at this point, it's not a completely far-fetched idea. Kevin Shields did a remix of the Go! Team's Ladyflash and Huddle Formation. Tim Parton recently told NME that "He (Kevin Shields) always said he wanted to do a garage version of The Jackson 5, and he saw that in us."
As for now, the Go! Team is playing some shows with the Flaming Lips in Europe and the US, and plans to release a single for Do It Right this summer.
