Yo La Tengo to Release I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass on Matador in September

By: Spacelab Research Staff
Matador Records has announced that Yo La Tengo will release a new full length album in September titled I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass. And people are supposed to mellow as they get older. Yo La Tengo doesn't really have much to say about the album at this point, other than it's really really close to being done and no, they don't think that they'll end up changing the title.

They'll be playing a scant few shows this summer, and in the US, if you're not in New York, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Chicago, or Saratoga, you probably won't see them play live.

But you can console yourself with a copy of Yo La Tengo Is Murdering The Classics, a collection of cover songs played during the last eight years of WFMU fundraising marathons, in which people call in and request songs for YLT to play live. It's 70 minutes of covers of the likes of Jonathan Richman, The Replacements, Eurythmics, T. Rex, Sonic Youth, and a whole lot more.
