If I told you in the early nineties that a drug-addled Perry Farrell would go on to be regarded as one of the founding fathers of the alternative music movement, and highly regarded as a advocate of change and new ideas 15 years later, would you have believed me? Maybe not. Back then, he seemed destined to self-detonate.
But he weathered the times, and he made it through the difficult Porno for Pyros phase, and has gone on to be the Lollapalooza godhead, the veritable DJ Peretz, and a husband and father. And now he's the keynote speaker for this year's CMJ Rockhall Music Fest.
He'll kick off the event on June 14th, at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
