Frank Black Is Back In Black:
First Solo Tour In 10 Years
By: Spacelab Research Staff Frank Black has been getting seriously busy lately. In addition to the recent iTunes release of Frank Black and the Catholics albums One More Road For The Hit and Snake Oil, he released a full on double album of solo material titled Fast Man Raider Man on June 20th.
He's planning a fast and loose tour in support of the album, rolling around North America in August to play a set of dates in which he'll headline or be the opening act for the Foo Fighters. It'll be his first solo tour since 1995.
"I like the idea that I don't have to 'follow the beat,' that I can pull the songs a part a little bit, change the set right there on stage if I want," Black said recently.
Mr. Black has also been working with his partner in crime Eric Drew Feldman (Captain Beefheart, Pere Ubu) on some new material, due for release later this year. He'll spend part of July touring with the Pixies on the European festival circuit.
