Massive Attack Announces North American Tour To Support Upcoming Album Weather Underground

By: Spacelab Research Staff
Bristol trip-hop innovators Massive Attack have announced a set of tour dates for the US and Canada, to follow their swing through Europe. It's not a big tour, but it is the first time they're hitting the US and Canada in eight years, save for their Coachella trip earlier this year. They'll be hitting major American cities and the newly announced Canadian V Festival.

The dates include a show with buddies TV On The Radio in Los Angeles, plus a bunch of dates with DJ Shadow. Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins) and Horace Andy will share vocal duties, but it's not apparent yet whether they'll be at all of the scheduled dates.

Massive Attack is touring in support of their upcoming album, Weather Underground. The boys from Bristol were jetsetting back and forth from the U.K. to New York earlier this year to record new music while working with TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek. Neil Davidge was doing the knob twiddling for the recording sessions.

Weather Underground is expected to be released sometime around February 2007, so you'll have to wait a while. The band is said to have recorded over a hundred tracks for their last album, Weather Underground, and the album was eventually paired down to nine tracks. If that history is a guide, the band has a lot of work to do.
