Sufjan Stevens Announces Tour Dates for Suave Performances, Will Tour With My Brightest Diamond
By: Spacelab Research Staff Sufjan Stevens has been working on some new songs. Yes. New music, and he's feeling free to share them with the world, or at least the US and one place in Canada this Fall. He'll be touring with Asthmatic Kitty protege My Brightest Diamond, a.k.a. Shara Worden.
He'll be playing songs from his previous albums too, but in more of symphonic-type portrayal, using a string ensemble and brass section. Sufjan represesentatives seem to be billing this as a more sophisticated Sufjan gig, without taking himself too seriously. Cheerleaders will not be present this time around.
My Brightest Diamond will release Bring Me The Workhorse on August 22nd. Shara's been playing with Sufjan Stevens while working on her own material, some of which is about to be released on Sufjan's Asthmatic Kitty label. It represents the more conventional side of Shara, with more of a rock feel, like PJ Harvey doing an opera of songs with Portishead as the backing band.
