“It really sounds like The Lemonheads. Maybe a little better. Louder, faster, more like Buzzcocks pop-punk-and way less introspective,” said Evan Dando when talking about the current state of the Lemonheads sound.
“We started out in Jam, Buzzcocks territory. We’ve got some psyched-out country on there as well. But all of it is squarely in The Lemonheads tradition.”
There's also new players. Evan has recruited Bill Stevenson on the drums and Karl Alvarez on the drums, both former members of 80's southern California punk band the Descendents. The three of them have formed the nucleus of the new Lemonheads, but there are others that weigh in on the experience, namely J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Garth Hudson (The Band), and Josh Lattanzi (Poghkeepsie, Rule of Three).
They'll release Become The Enemy as a single on September 19th, with the full album set for release a week later on September 26th on Vagrant Records. A US tour is planned for the Fall but no dates have been announced yet.
