Jason Molina and Magnolia Electric Co. To Release New Music With Lots of Tour Dates

By: Spacelab Research Staff
Jason Molina will be releasing two albums late this summer, one solo and one with is band, Magnolia Electric Co. He'll also be taking Magnolia Electric Co. on the road in July and August. He's exploring dark matter, themes like depression and lonliness, in a straightforward way.

The solo album, titled Let Me Go, Let Me Go, Let Me Go, will be released on vinyl only on August 22nd on Secretly Canadian Records, and will feature mostly acoustic material that he recorded in his garage.

"I put this project together in the last days before I began what was a long and harrowing move back to Chicago. I wrote these songs as well as the half dozen or so that did not make it over the course of 3 mornings in Bloomington, Indiana and recorded them one after the other in the order they were written," said Jason when talking about the recording process.

The second album is with his band, Magnolia Electric Co. The album is titled Fading Trails and was recorded with Steve Albini at his Electric Audio Studio, David Lowery at his own Sound of Music Studio, and also Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. It will be available from Secretly Canadian Records on September 12th. The band will also head out on tour in support of the album, touring with Ladyhawke and Julie Dorion & Shearwater depending on location.
