Baltimore V Festival Names Names: The 2006 Line Up
By: Spacelab Research Staff
Continuing their quest for festival domination on every continent, V Festival organizers announced the 2006 Baltimore line up yesterday. The V Festival is slated for September 23rd at the Pimlico Race Course.
After headliners The Red Hot Chili Peppers, notable bands include Flaming Lips, The Raconteurs, Gnarls Barkley, Thievery Corporation, John Digweed and more (see below).
And tickets aren't cheap at $97.50 a piece, as serious bands mean serious money. At a capacity of 60,000 people, that's a lot of money for one show.
The festival is being organized by Seth Hurwitz, better known as the operator of the 9:30 Club in Washington DC. He's not keeping any secrets about how big he wants the festival to be, calling himself a big capitalist. But he's not into making it a sprawling festival with lots of bands, focusing instead on getting quality bands on focusing on a smaller line up. There will be two stages plus a DJ tent.
"My concept was to book the absolute best, most power-packed, quality-versus-quantity lineup I could. I wanted to make this the most prestigious festival to play on for bands," he said when speaking to Billboard.
