The Hold Steady have announced tour dates for October of 2006. They'll be touring in support of their upcoming album, Boys and Girls of America, due out the same month on their new home of Vagrant Records.
It's a coastal tour, skimming around the outside edges of the US. They'll be taking Minneapolis' Sean Na Na with them as the opening act. Ever hear of Har Mar Superstar? Sean Na Na is the real band of Sean Tillmann, the guy who's alter ego is Har Mar Superstar.
The Hold Steady's Boys and Girls In America was recorded with Producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Bob Dylan, Dinosaur Jr). It was recorded at Water Music in Hoboken and mixed at the Magic Shop in New York.
“Boys and Girls in America” is a reference to a line from Jack Kerouac's classic novel On the Road, said lead singer Craig Finn. "The line goes, 'Boys and girls in America have such a sad time together.' Basically, the songs are about guys and girls, and love. It's not a concept-type record like the last one -- it's more of a theme record."
The band is also planning to be at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 6th.
