By: Spacelab Research Staff Emily Haines of Metric has announced a small set of tour dates in support of her upcoming solo album, Knives Don't Have Your Back. She'll release the album on September 26th on Last Gang Records, but will start touring on August 25th with appearances at the UK's Leeds and Reading festivals.
“Everywhere I’ve lived while working with Metric, I’ve written songs on the piano and played them for no one. On the advice of a friend, I decided I’d better start recording them before they were forgotten. Four meandering years later I ended up with this collection of songs featuring a few of my favorite people, a group I call The Soft Skeleton.”
Emily says that the songs were written in different hot spots around North America, like New York, LA, Montreal and Toronto. The album will be a stripped down, quieter affair with pianos, strings, and horns. She likes to be quiet with the music.
She's bringing a lot friends with her too, depending on the dates: Jimmy Shaw (Broken Social Scene, Metric), Evan Cranley (Stars, Broken Social Scene), Chris Seligman (Stars), Scott Minor (Sparklehorse) and Paul Dillon (Sparklehorse).
