Chicago's The Ponys have decided to go global, and Matador Records will help them get there. The band has signed to a multi-album deal, rumored to be inked in blood, maybe even pony's blood. The band plays guitar-driven indie rock, a little bit impassioned, a little bit detached. It's a gritty workout of intensity and honesty.
They'll be releasing an album sometime in 2007. It follows on the heels of 2004's Laced With Romance and the Steve Albini-mentored Celebration Castle in 2005, released on the label In The Red.
They've also spent a good chunk of this year on the road, gigging with the likes of the Black Keys, Art Brut, The Grates, and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's. And the M's. We can't forget them, can we? Certanly not.
