Dengue Fever

Dengue Fever On the Road

By: Sarshar Hosseinia
Cambodian sextet Dengue Fever get ready to launch U.S. and Canadian tour in support of their soon-to-be-released album of worldly-goods, Escape from Dragon House.

Multi-culturists Dengue Fever, a Cambodian band based largely out of L.A., are set to bring their diverse sound of roots-inspired rock, 70’s disco and new romanticism to the East Coast and Mid-West this August. The band, a mix of L.A. natives, and a Cambodian singer, who is the equivalent in her country to the Jackson’s, are currently taking the West Coast by storm and will look to take their recent popularity to Canada, as well as the rest of the U.S.

The band will be touring their third album, Escape from Dragon House, due out September 13th, and compared to their two previous albums, has the most potential to be a commercial success. Lead singer Chhom Nimol’s haunting, yet melodic vocals (sang in her native tongue, Khmer) sets the band apart from anything else being played right now, and the bands ability to continuously switch their genre of music, (largely due to the fact that many of the band have played with some of the world’s finest musicians. Ziggy Marley, Snoop Dogg, Beck to name a few) will serve them well in the long run, and has already provided their audiences with exciting live shows.

Dengue Fever are currently on the M80 Music / Birdman label, but it will only be a matter of time before they're snapped up by a larger record company and exposed to the mainstream stage.

Dengue Fever are a must-see this Summer and play gigs all around the U.S. and Canada:
