People love to hate Fiery Furnaces. You can visit message boards and just drop their name and suddenly everybody's there to post about how they love or hate the band, defending them or putting them down. To me, that means that Fiery Furnaces are doing something right, and something very artistic and creative. They challenge people's perceptions, calling into suspect the very notion of what a song is and what music is.
They're taking to the road again in support of Bitter Tea, the album they released earlier this year. They'll play eleven tour dates, zig-zagging around the North American subcontinent, ending up in Columbus, Ohio, of all places. Deerhoof will be along for some of the dates, and there'll be a stop at Arthurfest in Los Angeles on October 22nd.
