Conor Oberst has seen the future, and it involves looking into the past. He'll be releasing a set of rarities on October 24th titled Noise Floor, on Saddle Creek Records. The album will involve contributions by Conor, Mike Walcott, Nate Walcott, Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney) and Gillian Welch. Noise Floor will be bursting with "one-offs, unreleased tracks, collaborations and covers recorded between 1998 and 2005."
Recorded on various analog and digital devices, the songs show the progression of Bright Eyes over time and highlight Conor as “rock’s boy genius” and Bright Eyes as "indie rock" heroes, part of Omaha's "scene," and I could go on, but it's become apparent that this paragraph is just a ruse for me to insert as many "quotes" as possible into one, "action-packed" block of words. Quotes = soundbite excitement.
2007 will bring a new release from Bright Eyes, with contributions from Gillian Welch, Janet Weiss and M. Ward.
