The All Tomorrow's Parties festival has announced the initial lineup for it's April 2007 edition. The festival will be curated by Australian folk/rock instrumentalists The Dirty Three, known for their avante-garde approach to making folk-inspired music. The band has worked with or toured with the likes of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Cat Power, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Sonic Youth and Devendra Banhart. Band member Warren Ellis is a permanent member of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds.
And with that in mind, the confirmed headling act is: Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds! Of course! Other confirmed acts so far are: Papa M, Low, The Drones, Tara Jane O'Neil, Grinderman, Magnolia Electric Company, Brokeback and Faun Fables. The festival will take place on April 27th - 29th at Butlins Holiday Camp in Minehead.
All Tomorrow's Parties was started in 1999 by London concert Promoters Barry Hogan and Helen Cottage as a deviation from the corporate festivals of the day. What makes ATP unique is that rather than hiring a music industry person to book the bands, Barry and Helen find a musician, artist, or writer to 'curate' the festival - treating it more like an experience than a business venture.
Curators then create the entire festival — programming bands, DJ sets and a television channel. Past curators have included Mudhoney, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Devendra Banhart, Dinosaur Jr., Sleater Kinney, The Shins, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Mogwai, Autechre and Modest Mouse.
