Baltimore's Beach House make for a good fall soundtrack. Their midtempo to slow ambient songs are the perfect slowdown for the easing into colder, darker season. Their music has warmth to it, but emanates a sort of desolation or isolation. Somehow they make the darkness of Fall a little brighter - it's a nice transition to take you out of summer and into winter.

Singer Victoria Legrand is a cross between Nico and Karen Carpenter, with her siren-like vocals covering the backdrop of hazy, reverb-laden organ and guitar. The music is slow and evocative. The band is touring this fall in the US and Canada with Over The Atlantic, including a stop at the CMJ Music Marathon on November 1st.
