Deerhoof: 2007 Is Time To Go Global, Baby

By: Spacelab Research Staff
Fresh off their stop at CMJ, Deerhoof are planning the next big phase of Deerhoof reality. Their first stop is at All Tomorrow's Parties Nightmare Before Christmas on December 9th, where they'll play alongside bands like Sonic Youth, Wooden Wand, Bardo Pond, and Be Your Own Pet. The festival is curated by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth.

But wait, there's more. They're recording some stuff at Hyperion Sound in L.A. for a Justin Theroux film called Dedication. The group will be working with composer Ed Shearmur. No word on when the movie or soundtrack or film score will be out, but the film has ended its production phase, accordng to the Internet Movie Database.

The band appears to be operating as a three-piece following the departure of Chris Cohen last year. He made an announcement that he would leave Deerhoof via the band's MySpace page to say that he would pursue his other band, The Curtains. So that leaves Greg Saunier, John Dieterich, and of course Satomi Matsuzaki.

The tour dates announced so far include dates in Japan, The US, and Vancouver.

Friend Opportunity will see the light of day on January 23rd, courtesy of Kill Rock Stars / 5RC.
