Kieran Hebden / Steve Reid Will Tour U.S. / U.K. In Support of New Album Tongues

By: Spacelab Research Staff
Although they've been touring for a little while now, Kieran Hebden and drummer Steve Reid will release another album titled Tongues, to be released on March 19th on Domino Records. They just keep on keepin' on...

The dynamic duo have been focusing on the intersection of live drums and electronic sounds. In 2006 they released The Exchange Session Volumes 1 and 2, to critical acclaim. Kieran says that the collaboration allows him to more freely explore improvisation instead of working in the controlled environment of computerized beats.

“It has been so exciting for me because part of what I’ve wanted to do in my music – soul and funk and jazz, all the American music that I love - has been out of my reach. I’m used to making very controlled music where the computer keeps time. But I couldn’t do that because Steve has to keep time, so it was an incredible liberation,” says Kieran. He worked hard in advance of going in with Steve to find and create a new palette of “impossible computer sounds” to use in this new human way of working.
