By: Spacelab Research Staff Sigur Ros have made an announcement that they're in the studio right now working on their next album. They offer no real date for the album's release, but throw it out on the table that there's a possibility that it could "be released this year." That's some nice optimism, but the statement did read that the band IS likely to finish recording the album this year.
They also said they're open to new directions on this album, but have no real direction yet. The statement on their web site reads “we have finished recording a few songs but some more things need to be done. we don’t know exactly where the album is heading yet. we are really just experimenting at this stage. some of the songs we recorded are old songs which we had written a while ago, unreleased material which we never got a chance to finish. we decided it was time they were recorded.”
The album will be the first full length album since Taak in 2005.
