After making the rounds on the Internet last summer, Land Of Talk are releasing Applause Cheer Boo Hiss on the Rebel Group on March 20th.

2006 saw them being talked up on a number of influential sites like Brooklyn Vegan and Stereogum, with lots of props lifted onto the band, and deservedly so. There's a strange but enticing chemistry in this music. Part angst and part indie rock, Land of Talk have come across that sort of sound that's hard to compare to and hard not to love. You can probably hear it in the song streaming right now, no?

Singer Elizabeth Powell has that intriguing Kurt Cobain quality to her voice, the sort of super-approachable tone that seems to appeal to everyone. The music is polished but retains a rough edge when it needs to.

Land Of Talk will be touring around the U.S. this Spring, including a 5-day stop the South By Southwest Music Festival.
