Ooops! Bonnaroo Festival Announces 2007 Lineup Early
By: Spacelab Research Staff
Let's call it the lineup before the lineup. The Bonnaroo Festival posted a line up on Tuesday before later taking it down. Tuesday the 13th is the day before the expected announcement, so I'm guessing the web lackey accidently copied the wrong info to the web site! Ooops! It was later taken down. Maybe they just wanted to massage some online PR frenzy. Why get big coverage on one day when you can get it for two?
Before that, music people everywhere tripped over themselves to be the first to "get it on, online" and published the preliminary Bonnaroo lineup, which included Damien Rice, Decemberists, Spoon, Lily Allen, the Hold Steady, Feist, Tortoise, Cold War Kids, Annuals, Wilco, the Flaming Lips, DJ Shadow, Sasha & Digweed, and Hot Chip. Headliners included The White Stripes, Tool, The Police, and Widespread Panic.
The following day, Bonnaroo did post their lineup for reals, and things proved to be pretty right on from the day before.
More than just a footstompin' romp in the hayloft, Bonnaroo has quickly become one the biggest and best festivals in the U.S. Last year's show played home to one of the few Radiohead gigs on this continent and this year looks to be big too.
Set on a 700 acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, it's the playground of the cool kids and the hippies, at the same time, on the same field. 2007 will be the first year that Bonnaroo owns the land outright, as they just recently bought the land that the festival happens on.
"As you may have heard, we have purchased a major portion of the beautiful farm where Bonnaroo takes place each year. We are very excited about the opportunity it will provide us to improve the festival for years to come. We now have a permanent home in Manchester and look forward to seeing you there every year during Bonnaroo time!"
If you get tired of the music you can always visit one of the other attractions like: 24-hour cinema, a comedy tent, an arcade, an onsite beer festival, a Mardi Gras parade, an Internet café, a digital music lounge, wireless hot spots, a silent disco, and a masquerade ball.
