Now that hockey season is more than half over, a Canadian's thoughts start to turn towards that eternal question... Just who is the best indie band in the land? The CBC will ask and answer that question on March 7th with the Galaxie Rising Stars Award.
Also known as Canada's NPR/PBS, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has announced the ten finalists for the award, which includes Emily Haines, Tokyo Police Club, and Final Fantasy. The winner gets their mitts on $3000 cash money and gets to brag about it all year long.
It's all part of Canadian Music Week in Toronto, and the band list was determined after secret sweat lodge meetings in which media peeps and journalists vote on who gets some list action. OK, the sweat lodge thing isn't real, but we gotta spice things up on this one a bit! It's Canadian.
