Rocky Votolato Announces New Album The Brag & Cuss + Tour + VIDEO
By: Spacelab Research Staff Rocky Votolato is back with his follow up to 2006's Makers with the announcement of The Brag & Cuss.
After the success of Makers, Rocky was able to focus all of his time on the new album, which had led to some new changes. There's a transcendence and expansion in the sound of his songwriting, plus he's got a full band now, moving beyond the songriter folk stylings of before. I guess some people do get to quit the day job, after all.
The band includes James McAllister (Sufjan Stevens), Bill Herzog (Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter), Casey Foubert (Pedro the Lion), and Rick Steff (Cat Power, Hank Williams, Jr.). The band has created a fuller country sound that includes more guitar, keyboards and full percussion.
Barsuk Records will release The Brag & Cuss on June 19th. There's already a bunch of shows for this Spring including the South By Southwest Music Festival with more dates to come. Opening bands include Slender Means and Drag The River; Rocky will also play shows with Owen, The Great Depression, and Street to Nowhere.
