In the beginning of what's sure to be an overwhelming amount of news about a Bjork summer, there has been news from the Bjork camp on the release of her upcoming album.
It's called Volta, and this time it will actually feature instruments alongside the voices. There's a whole host of appearances from a wide range of people, including Antony (Antony And The Johnsons), Timbaland, Mark Bell (LFO), improv drummer Chris Corsano, Min Xiao-Fen on the Chinese pipa, a 10-piece brass section of women from Iceland, and Brian Chippendale (Lightening Bolt). Africa also represents with Malian kora player Toumani Diabate, and Konono No1 from the Congo.
Volta will be the first new full length studio album since Medúlla in 2004, although she released the epic soundtrack to Matthew Barney's Drawing Restraint 9 and the Surrounded 5.1 mixes in 2006.
Björk has also been announced for Coachella, Sasquatch!, Roskilde, Open'er and Glastonbury in what's sure to be a growing list of festival gigs for 2007.
