Maybe we can start comparing iPods to Big Macs. Apple announced on April 9th that there have been over 100 million iPods served. That includes iPods from the the entire catalog of pods, including the mini, shuffle, and nano.
"iPod has helped millions of people around the world rekindle their passion for music, and we're thrilled to be a part of that," said Steve Jobs.
The iPod went on sale late in 2001, giving way to the overbearing trend of people walking around urban centers, with said iPod in hand, imitating the commercials, crying out "look at me and my iPod! I just bought coolness for a $400 price tag!" People started lusting after them in the way we all lust after the iPhone right now... I guess Apple saw a good thing coming and pounced on it.
