With the brag and cuss being released on June 19, 2007, Rocky Votolato is planning some summer shows. The peeps at Barsuk Records say fans can look forward to a “fuller sound” with this record, which is the second on Barsuk. The tour is broken into two parts, beginning on May 24th in his home state of Washington. After a couple weeks to unwind, Rocky will be back on the road making his way across the country, rocking out well into the fall. “Postcards from Kentucky” was recently released by Barsuk to keep fans waiting anxiously for both the new album and the summer tour. You can download it at the link below.
Known for songwriting skills that mesmerize, Rocky Votolato has quite a following. It’s not just his wordsmithing that makes him an amazing artist, Votolato is an absolute genius on his acoustic guitar. “Postcards from Kentucky” leaves nothing to be desired. The song has everything we’ve always loved about Votolato’s sound, and more! It seems odd to say he is getting better with time, since he is already so good.
With a full band on the tracks the brag and cuss includes the aptitudes of James McAllister (Sufjan Stevens) on drums, Bill Herzog (Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter) on bass, Casey Foubert (Pedro the Lion) on electric guitar, banjo, mandolin and percussion, and Rick Steff (Cat Power, Hank Williams, Jr.) on Hammond b3, piano, and accordion. So let the sing-song rock-a-bye melancholy magic commence!
