Montreal's Land Of Talk have added to their list of early summer shows that will take them around the U.S. in support of last year's Applause Cheer Boo Hiss. They're touring with the Rosebuds, and will eventually land at the final show in New York for a Summerstage show with Grizzly Bear and the Decemberists.
2006 saw them being talked up in the blogosphere. Singer Elizabeth Powell has that intriguing Kurt Cobain quality to her voice, the sort of super-approachable tone that seems to appeal to everyone. The music is polished but retains a rough edge when it needs to. Part angst and part indie rock, Land of Talk have come across that sort of sound that's hard to compare to and hard not to love.
