The Village Voice has named some of the initial acts for the 2007 Siren Music Festival, including the New York Dolls, The Black Lips, We Are Scientists, the Twilight Sad, and more. Check out the Festival Overview for a complete lineup
It goes down on Saturday, July 21st on Coney Island in New York, where indie rock meets an amusement park. There's two stages of music and slightly overlapping schedules, but should allow for bouncing from stage to stage to check out a little bit of every set if you want to.
Each year more than 100,000 people attend the Siren Music Festival, which is enough to make the Village Voice call itself a "leader" in showcasing indie rock veterans and emerging artists. That's maybe a bit too strong of a statement, but at least the Village Voice doesn't have a self esteem problem. It's a totally free festival, no tickets required.
