It's been nine long years since Buffalo Tom last released an album of new material with 1998's Smitten, but that is about to change. In July the band will release Three Easy Pieces on their new label imprint Ammal Records.
The album was self-produced by the band and recorded in their hometown of Boston, and consists of 13 tracks that the been has been working on in one form or another since 2003. The band is feeling pretty comfortable with their process of writing and records after two decades, allowing things to happen as they will.
“We didn't talk a lot in rehearsals writing Three Easy Pieces—we just watched each other and improvised chords, lyrics and jokes. That’s something we learned to do after playing together for 20 years,” said Chris Colbourn.
The album is being released on their new imprint Ammal Records, as part of New West Records. The album will see a release on July 9th in the UK and July 10th in the U.S. Their also releasing Bad Phone Call as a single on June 25th.
